Early Morning Chennai Metro Train Changes Next Week: Green Line Commuters Take Note

If you’re someone who catches the Metro Train before sunrise, here’s an Chennai Metro News you’ll want to keep in mind.

From September 15 (Monday) to September 19 (Friday), the Green Line stretch between Koyambedu and Ashok Nagar will see a small disruption in service. The reason — Phase-2 construction works happening right above Vadapalani Metro station.

Between 5:00 am and 6:00 am on these days, trains won’t be running on this stretch. To make up for it, CMRL has arranged a dedicated feeder service that will run every 10 minutes connecting Koyambedu and Ashok Nagar.

Meanwhile, services in other parts of the Metro remain mostly unaffected. Here’s how things will look:

  • On the Green Line, trains between St. Thomas Mount – Ashok Nagar and Airport – Ashok Nagar will run at a 14-minute frequency during that hour.
  • Between Central Metro – Koyambedu, trains will run every 7 minutes.
  • The Blue Line schedule (Wimco Nagar – Airport via AG-DMS) continues as usual with no changes.

Once the clock strikes 6:00 am, it’s back to the normal weekday and weekend timetables on both lines.

CMRL has asked for passenger cooperation during this short window of change, emphasizing that the adjustment is necessary to keep Phase-2 construction on track.

For any clarifications or updates, commuters can reach CMRL’s customer care at 1860-425-1515 or visit www.chennaimetrorail.org.
