My old AC started giving poor cooling even at 16°C and consumed a lot of electricity. With the summer heat increasing, it became difficult to sleep without proper cooling. So, I decided to buy a new AC from Croma Ambattur.
Here’s my complete buying experience—from store visit to installation.
Why I Chose Croma Ambattur
Last year, my friend purchased a Croma brand AC from the Ambattur showroom, and I accompanied him. I observed their customer service, pricing, and quick installation process. Based on that experience, I decided to visit Croma again to enquire about buying an AC.
Store Experience at Croma Ambattur
When I visited the Ambattur showroom, I didn’t have to wait. A salesperson immediately guided me to the AC section.
- The staff was knowledgeable and professional
- He first asked about my room size and requirements
- Then explained cooling capacity, power consumption, and features
The store had multiple brands, including:
- Daikin
- Panasonic
- LG
- Voltas
- Haier
- Godrej
- Blue Star
Additional point: The Ambattur Croma showroom has enough parking space for both cars and bikes, which is convenient.
Product Selection & Research
After the initial visit, I shortlisted three brands:
- Daikin
- Panasonic
- LG
I collected pricing details and visited other showrooms like Daikin and Sathya for comparison. The pricing at Croma and Sathya was quite similar, but Croma offered a slightly lower price. The Daikin showroom price was higher compared to Croma.
After comparing all options, I chose a Panasonic 1.5 Ton 3-Star Inverter AC based on my requirements.
Why I Selected This Model
- Strong cooling with good air throw distance
- 7-year warranty on outdoor unit (₹500 additional)
- Self-cleaning technology
- Reliable Japanese brand build quality
- Lower power consumption
Price, Offer & Negotiation
During my first visit, the price was around ₹38,000.
On my second visit, after negotiation, I got it for ₹36,190, which I felt was a good deal.
- Old AC exchange offer: ₹4,000
- I declined because removal charges were extra
- I arranged my own technician and got ₹4,000 without service cost
They also offered:
- EMI options
- ₹2,000 instant discount on selected cards
I was happy to purchase the latest 2026 model.
Delivery & Installation Experience
They promised delivery within 1–2 days, but I received the AC the very next day at 11 AM.
Surprisingly:
- Within 30 minutes of delivery, the installation team called
- The technician arrived quickly after sharing my location
- Installation was completed within 1 hour
The entire process was smooth and fast.
Installation Charges & Hidden Costs
The installation team was from a third-party agency partnered with Croma.
- Total installation cost: ₹2,800
- Included copper pipe and additional materials
I already had:
- AC stand
- Stabilizer
So, I saved extra costs there.
Important note:
The salesperson initially mentioned ₹2,300 installation cost, but the technician explained the actual charges based on materials used. This is a common situation—sales staff may not explain all variable costs.
AC Performance & First Impressions
- Cooling performance is excellent
- Suitable for around 800 sq. ft room size
- Provides good cooling even at 27–28°C
- Night usage at 28°C + ceiling fan gives comfortable cooling in 10–15 minutes
- Very low noise—almost silent with fan running
Note: The 5-star variant of this model includes WiFi features.
Pros
- Smooth purchase experience
- Fast delivery and installation
- Excellent cooling performance
- Good staff support
Cons
- Slight waiting time on weekends
- No live AC demo (running units) in showroom
- Installation cost clarity could be better
Tips Before Buying an AC
- Check your room size and usage before selecting tonnage
- If usage is below 6 hours/day, 3-star AC is sufficient
- Compare prices across 3–4 showrooms
- Inverter AC is better for long-term savings
- Visit stores during daytime on weekends to avoid crowd
- Always ask clearly about installation charges and extra costs
Conclusion
Overall, my experience buying an AC from Croma was smooth and satisfying. Delivery and installation were impressively fast, and the AC performance is excellent.
The only concern is installation cost transparency, so make sure to clarify that in advance and negotiate wherever possible.
If you are planning to buy an AC, Croma is a reliable option—but do your comparison and be aware of hidden charges.
